Tour to Zaanse Schans windmills

Leave the city and discover Zaanse Schans with the famous windmills, traditional houses, clog museum and cheese farms.

Are you getting sick of the busy city and do you want to discover some Dutch culture? Zaanse Schans is filled with windmills, in which you can take a look inside. Windmills can be found in the whole country, but this village is the most famous one and it consists so much more. The local guide will show you the traditional ‘Zaanse huisjes’, you can visit the clog museum and learn how to make them or take a workshop in making cheese in Cheese Farm Catharina Hoeve. You can add a traditional pancake lunch to this tour.

Accessibility information

One windmill is fully wheelchair accessible and one other windmill is accessible with a ramp. These two windmills can be visited with the Zaanse Schans Card. The Cheese Farm and Clog Workshop are also wheelchair accessible. An adapted toilet can be found at the Zaans Museum, just across from the parking lot and entrance to Zaanse Schans village.

How to get there?

All excursions organized by Accessible Travel Netherlands make use of wheelchair accessible transport. The minivans are accessible for 2 to 7 people and a maximum of 3 wheelchair users.

The division of space in the private taxi van is as followed:

Space for 7 people in total 

0 wheelchair users > 7 other passengers

1 person with a wheelchair (needs 2 seats) > 5 other passengers

2 people with a wheelchair (needs 4 seats) > 3 other passengers

3 people with a wheelchair (needs 6 seats) > 1 other passenger

Space for 7 people in total 
1 person with mobility scooter (needs 3 seats) > 4 other passengers
2 people with a mobility scooter (needs 6 seats) > 1 other passenger 

Combinations of wheelchairs and mobility scooters are possible as well.
