Description

During the River Cruise vacation on the Dutch rivers, you will be able to explore some of Holland’s beautiful cities and towns. The ship departs from Utrecht, which is only 40 minutes from Schiphol Airport. Utrecht is an old city which looks very similar to Amsterdam with its old canals, many bridges and iconic architecture. The ship departs from the harbor of Utrecht to dock in Rotterdam the next day. In Rotterdam, the captain will sail into the harbor of Rotterdam, one of Europe’s largest harbors. The tour guide will take you into the city of Rotterdam and show you the best highlights. The next destination is Tiel, a historical town that flourishes since the 9th century. On the fourth day, the town of Doesburg is visited, this fairly unknown town boasts over 150 monuments and museums! The ship continues to Zwolle, one of Holland’s hanse towns, once surrounded by a fort. The fort can still be seen at some locations in the city. On the final day the ship docks in Meppel, in the province of Overijssel. On this day of departure, there is the opportunity to visit Giethoorn on an optional excursion. Giethoorn is also called the ‘Dutch Venice’, because it has no roads, only waterways, hundreds of bridges. The boating tour along the typical farms and monuments of Giethoorn is included in the optional excursion.
